Indiana Battling AIDS Epidemic Due to Prescription Painkiller Addiction
The state of Indiana is fighting a battle against AIDS. The number of cases in the state has skyrocketed this year, mostly due to the large number of individuals abusing intravenous prescription opiates. Sharing needles can quickly lead to the spread of this virus, as many are witnessing in Indiana.
The governor of Indiana has implemented a needle exchange program to combat the outbreak. Many are working to establish treatment programs in connection to the needle exchange, in order to not only prevent AIDS and other diseases, but also to provide much needed help for those with opiate addiction.
